Network Management Solution (NMS) for WiFi equipment

As part of its innovation strategy, Omniacom has developed several WiFi-based radio products for operators and businesses. To effectively supervise all this equipment, we have designed and implemented a complete network management solution (NMS) based on modern technologies.

🎯 Project objective

Deploy a centralized management system to :

• Monitor equipment status and performance in real time,

• Manage their configuration and software updates,

• Ensure secure communication via REST APIs between the NMS platform and on-board equipment systems.

⚙️ Main achievements

🔧 Design and technical support

• Definition of the solution’s software architecture.

• Drafting of detailed technical specifications.

• Support and supervision of the development team.

• Follow-up and validation of internal deliverables.

📡 UBUS integration and secure communication

• Integration of a UBUS-based communication module to interact with on-board equipment.

• Development of an HTTP client, then migration to HTTPS with support for SSL certificates, guaranteeing secure exchanges.

• Optimized network performance for long, unstable connections.

• Implementation of unit and integration tests to validate the reliability of communications.

🔄 Asynchronous request management

• Integration of a backend promise system to improve management of asynchronous requests.

• Implementation of custom callbacks with explicit error messages.

• Strengthening the platform’s resilience in the face of network interruptions or slowness.

🖥️ OpenWrt embedded firmware development

• Creation of customized software images for WiFi devices based on OpenWrt.

• Fine-tuned configuration make menuconfig, with selection of packages and modules to suit network requirements.

🛠️ System and infrastructure administration

• Management of a VMware private cloud platform, including :

  • Continuous supervision of services,

  • Setting up backups,

  • Security and availability management.
